Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 15, 2025
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how the DLang Language Learning Application (”DLang”, “we”, “us” or “the App”)
collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information. This policy applies to all users of DLang
on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and the DLang web application. By using DLang, you agree to the
collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We are committed to protecting
your privacy and complying with applicable data protection regulations.
2. Information We Collect
We limit our data collection to the minimal information necessary to provide and improve our services. The
personal data we collect includes:
- Email Address – Collected when you create an account or sign in. Used for account identification,
authentication, and communication (e.g., account verification or password recovery).
- Device Identifiers – This includes device ID or advertising ID and similar unique identifiers associated
with your smartphone or browser. These are used for features like push notifications and analytics, and
to ensure your account is recognized across your devices.
- Authentication Tokens – Secure tokens or credentials generated upon login (for example, session tokens
or OAuth identifiers). These allow you to stay logged in and access your account securely without
re-entering your password.
- User-Provided Content (Word Lists and Progress) – Any language word lists, vocabulary entries, or other
learning content you voluntarily input into the App. This data is stored so that you can access,
practice, and manage your personalized learning materials across sessions.
In addition to the above, we may collect certain automated information through third-party analytics services
when you use DLang, such as your device type, operating system version, IP address, general location
(country or region), and usage statistics (e.g., features used, time spent). This information is collected
to help us understand how the App is used and to improve its performance, and it does not directly identify
you by name. We do not collect any sensitive personal data such as government IDs, payment card numbers, or
health information.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes in accordance with applicable laws:
- Providing and Improving the Service: Your email and authentication data are used to create and maintain
your account, log you in securely, and sync your learning progress. Your word lists and usage data are
utilized to deliver personalized learning content and track your progress.
- AI-Powered Content Generation: DLang offers AI-based language content and exercises. This means that
some of your provided data (such as words on your study list or in-app queries) may be processed by our
content generation engine to create personalized exercises or translations. Any such processing is done
through trusted third-party AI services on our behalf, solely to generate content for your learning, and
the data is not retained by those services beyond this purpose.
- Voice Synthesis (Text-to-Speech): To enhance your learning experience, the App can convert text into
spoken audio (pronunciations). For this feature, the text (e.g. words or phrases you select) may be sent
to a third-party voice synthesis service, which returns the audio. No personally identifying information
is included in these requests — only the text to be spoken.
- Push Notifications: If you grant permission, we will send you push notifications and alerts, for example
to remind you to practice, inform you of new content, or other relevant updates. Device identifiers or
tokens are used to deliver these notifications. You can opt out of push notifications at any time via
the App settings or your device’s notification preferences.
- Advertising: The App displays advertisements to support our free offering. We work with third-party
advertising networks that may use device identifiers and contextual data (such as your general location
or the content you are viewing in the App) to serve relevant ads. We do not share your email or any
sensitive personal data with advertisers. If you are under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold
applicable in your region), we take steps to disable or limit personalized ad tracking in compliance
with child privacy regulations (see Children’s Privacy below).
- Analytics: We use third-party analytics services to collect aggregated information about how users
interact with DLang (for example, which lessons are most popular or if the app crashes). This helps us
troubleshoot issues, analyze usage trends, and improve the App’s design and content. These analytics
providers process device and usage data in an anonymized or pseudonymized manner , and do not identify
you personally.
- Communications: We may use your email to send important account or service-related messages, such as
account verification, password reset emails, or updates about significant changes to the App or this
Policy. We may also send occasional product updates, newsletters, or promotional offers, but only if you
have opted in to such communications. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by using the
unsubscribe link in those emails or contacting us.
- Security and Fraud Prevention: Information like device IDs and IP addresses may be used to protect
against fraudulent usage, secure user accounts, and enforce our terms of service.
- Legal Compliance: We may process and disclose your data when required to by law or lawful requests by
public authorities (e.g., to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process), or when we believe in
good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of
others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
We will not use your personal data for any purposes that are incompatible with the purposes outlined above
without obtaining your consent, and we do not engage in any form of automated decision-making that produces
legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you, solely based on the automated
processing of data.
4. Third-Party Services and Sharing
DLang integrates several third-party services to provide core functionalities. These providers are carefully
chosen and are given access only to the information necessary to perform their specific services . We ensure
that all third-party partners are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data and to comply with
privacy laws. The categories of third-party services we use include:
- Authentication Services: We may use a secure third-party authentication provider to manage account
sign-ups and logins (for example, if you choose to sign in using an external account or our own
authentication system backed by a cloud service). This provider handles your login credentials and
provides us a unique user ID and email, which we use to identify your account. Your passwords are not
visible to us and are stored by the authentication service in an encrypted form.
- AI Content and Voice Service Providers: As noted, we rely on external artificial intelligence services
for content generation and text-to-speech functionality. These service providers receive only the data
needed to perform the task (e.g., a block of text to transform into a language exercise or spoken audio)
and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose. They do not receive your account information or
any unnecessary data.
- Push Notification Platform: We use a third-party messaging service (e.g., Apple Push Notification
Service for iOS devices, Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android, or a similar service) to send you push
notifications. This service uses device tokens or IDs to route notifications to the correct device. No
sensitive personal content is included in the notifications themselves — they are simply messages we
compose (such as “Practice your daily lesson!”). You can control these notifications as described above.
- Advertising Networks: Third-party advertising partners display ads within DLang. These partners may
collect certain device information (such as Advertising ID, IP address, and device type) to serve
non-intrusive, appropriate ads. We implement these services in compliance with platform policies
(including Google Play and Apple App Store requirements). If required, we will ensure that no
behaviorally targeted ads are shown to users identified as children or general audience users where such
targeting would violate applicable policies . We do not share any directly identifying personal data
(such as your name or email) with advertisers.
- Analytics Providers: External analytics tools help us understand app performance and user engagement.
They may set their own cookies or collect device identifiers and usage data, as described in Section 3
above. All data shared with analytics providers is aggregated or pseudonymized, focusing on usage
patterns rather than individual users . This information is used strictly to improve the App’s
functionality and user experience.
- Cloud Storage and Server Infrastructure: DLang is backed by secure cloud servers and storage services
(within the European Union – see Data Storage & Security below). These third-party data hosting
providers store our application data (including your personal data) on our behalf. They are
contractually bound to maintain strict confidentiality and security of the data. We do not allow these
providers to access your data for any purpose other than secure storage, backup, and retrieval as needed
to run the App.
- Payment Processors: Note: All purchases in DLang (such as subscription upgrades or in-app purchases, if
any) are processed exclusively through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store’s payment systems. We do
not directly collect or store your financial information for these transactions. This means that when
you make a purchase, you provide payment details (e.g., credit card or account credentials) to Apple or
Google, not to DLang. These platform providers may give us a confirmation that a payment was made and a
basic record of the transaction (e.g. an order ID and product purchased), but we never receive your full
payment account information. In other words, we delegate all financial transactions to the app store
providers, who handle and secure your payment data; DLang itself cannot access your credit card number
or billing information .
Sharing of Information: We do not sell your personal data to any third parties. We also do not share your
personal information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes. The cases in which we
may share data are limited to: (a) sharing with the above-described service providers and partners who need
it to perform services on our behalf (under strict data protection agreements), (b) if required by law or to
protect legal rights (as described under Legal Compliance in Section 3), or (c) in connection with a merger,
acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets (in which case we will provide notice and choices as
required by law). Any sharing of data is done in compliance with applicable privacy laws and only after
ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies: The DLang web application uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience. Cookies
are small text files placed on your device when you visit our site. We use cookies for purposes such as:
- Authentication and Session Management: To keep you logged in as you navigate between pages and to
remember your preferences or settings.
- Performance and Analytics: To understand how users reach our website and how they interact with it, so
we can optimize content and layout (for instance, to see which pages are visited most often). Analytics
cookies may collect generic information like your browser type or referral source, but this data is
aggregated and not used to identify you personally .
- Preferences: To remember choices you’ve made (e.g., your chosen language or font size) to provide a more
personalized experience without having to re-enter preferences each time.
- Advertising (if applicable on web): If our web version displays ads or uses advertising trackers,
cookies or similar tracking technologies may be used by our advertising partners to show you relevant
ads on our site or to cap how many times you see an ad. Any such cookies will not contain personally
identifiable information like your name or email, but may uniquely identify your browser and internet
device. If you are in a jurisdiction that requires consent for advertising cookies, we will present you
with an opportunity to allow or disable such cookies when you first use the web service.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete
existing cookies, or alert you when new cookies are being sent. However, please note that disabling all
cookies might impact certain features of the DLang web application (for example, you may not be able to stay
logged in).
Local Storage & Device Storage: In addition to cookies, the DLang mobile apps and web may utilize local
storage or similar mechanisms on your device to cache data and store preferences (for example, saving a list
of words for offline practice, or remembering that you have seen a particular tutorial so as not to show it
again). This local data is stored on your device and never uploaded to our servers unless necessary for
syncing your account. It is used to improve speed and provide offline capabilities. You can typically clear
an app’s stored data by uninstalling the app or, for the web, by clearing your browser’s site data.
By using our website and app, you consent to our use of cookies and local storage as described above. Where
required by law, we will obtain your consent before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.
6. Data Storage and Security
Storage Location: All personal data and content you provide to DLang is stored securely on servers within the
European Union. We maintain this within the EU to ensure compliance with robust data protection standards
and to facilitate easier oversight under European privacy regulations. We implement strict policies so that
your data stays in protected environments at all times .
Security Measures: We are committed to safeguarding your information. In line with industry best practices
and legal requirements, we employ a variety of technical and organizational measures to protect your
personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction . These measures include, but
are not limited to:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using security
protocols such as SSL/TLS. This means that when you enter personal information in the app or on the
website, it is coded in a way that prevents eavesdropping during transit. We also encrypt sensitive data
at rest on our servers where feasible, adding an extra layer of protection .
- Access Controls: We restrict access to personal data to authorized personnel who need it to operate,
develop, or improve the App. Those who have access are bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
Administrative access to systems storing personal data is protected via strong authentication (e.g.,
multi-factor authentication) and is logged for security review.
- Secure Infrastructure: Our servers are protected by up-to-date firewall protection and housed in secure
facilities with 24/7 monitoring. We regularly update our software and employ malware protection to guard
against vulnerabilities.
- Data Minimization: We only collect data that is necessary for the purposes stated. By limiting what we
store, we reduce the risk associated with your personal information.
- Periodic Reviews and Testing: We periodically review our information collection, storage, and processing
practices to ensure they are secure. We perform security testing and assessments on our applications and
backend systems.
- Anonymization: Where possible, especially for analytics and research, we use anonymization or
pseudonymization. For instance, usage logs for analytics are stored without directly identifying
information, and any AI processing is done on data that does not directly identify users.
Despite our best efforts and the measures in place, no system can be 100% secure. We cannot guarantee
absolute security of your data (no reputable service can), but we do continuously work to protect your
information. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you and
the relevant regulatory authorities as required by law, and we will take all reasonable steps to mitigate
any potential harm.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was
collected, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements . In
practice, this means:
- Account Data: Your email, authentication credentials, and profile data are kept for as long as you
maintain an account with DLang. If you decide to delete your account (or request us to do so), we will
initiate deletion of these records from our live databases (as described in Section 9: Your Rights).
- User-Provided Content: Word lists and other study materials you add are retained so long as you are
using the service (they are part of your account). If you remove specific content from within the app
(e.g., delete a word list), it will no longer be accessible to you or the app, and we will expunge or
anonymize that content from our systems within a reasonable time frame as part of routine clean-up
(backups may retain it for a short period – see below).
- Analytics Data: Aggregated analytics and log data may be retained for internal analysis and security
purposes. Generally, this data is either anonymized or associated with a pseudonymous ID. We may retain
anonymous usage statistics indefinitely to help us understand long-term usage trends, but such data will
not be linked to an individual once the retention period for personal data expires.
- Backups: Like many services, we perform regular backups of our databases to ensure resilience against
system failures. These backups are securely stored and encrypted. Personal data that you have deleted or
that we have removed may remain in encrypted backups for a short period (typically no more than 30 days)
before being automatically overwritten or purged. During this period, we would not restore deleted
personal data unless absolutely necessary for system integrity, and if so, we would re-delete the data
after restoration.
- Legal Requirements: In certain cases, we may need to retain some information for longer if required by
applicable laws (for example, records of transactions or correspondence may be kept to comply with
financial regulations or dispute resolutions). In all such cases, we will only retain the minimum
necessary information and for the shortest duration required by law.
Once the retention period expires or upon confirmed deletion of your data, we either securely erase your
personal information or anonymize it so that it can no longer be associated with you.
8. Your Rights
DLang is committed to upholding the data subject rights provided under international data protection laws,
including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As a user, you have the following rights
regarding your personal data that we hold:
- Right of Access: You have the right to request confirmation of whether we are processing your personal
information, and if so, to request a copy of the data we hold about you . We will provide this
information, subject to some exceptions (for example, if providing the data would adversely affect the
rights and freedoms of others).
- Right to Rectification: If any of your personal data is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to
request that we correct or update it . You can also correct certain information (like your email)
directly through the account settings in the App.
- Right to Erasure: You have the right to request deletion of your personal data under certain
circumstances – for example, if the data is no longer necessary for the purposes it was collected, or if
you withdraw consent and no other legal basis for processing exists . See Section 9 (Data Deletion) for
more details on how to delete your account and data.
- Right to Object: You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data in certain
situations. For instance, you can object to processing for direct marketing or to any processing based
on our legitimate interests if you believe it infringes on your rights . If you object, we will consider
your request and whether our processing should be adjusted or terminated, except where we have
compelling legitimate grounds to continue.
- Right to Restrict Processing: You can request that we limit the processing of your data in specific
cases – e.g., while we are verifying the accuracy of your data after you contest its accuracy, or if you
want us to preserve data for legal reasons while a complaint is pending. When processing is restricted,
such data will be marked accordingly and, aside from storage, will only be processed with your consent
or for legal reasons.
- Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive the personal data you provided to us in a
commonly used, machine-readable format, and to have that data transmitted to another service provider
where technically feasible . For example, if you want a copy of your word lists or other content to use
in another application, we will provide you with an export if you request it.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: If we rely on your consent to process any personal data (such as sending
marketing emails), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time . Withdrawing consent will
not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, and it will not
affect processing of your personal data under other legal bases (for example, processing necessary for
the performance of a contract or compliance with a legal obligation).
- Right to Non-Discrimination: If you choose to exercise any of the rights above, we will not discriminate
against you for doing so. You will continue to have access to the App and its features under the same
conditions as all users, subject to the data adjustments resulting from your request (for example, if
you request deletion, of course, you will no longer be able to access your account).
To exercise your rights, you can contact us at our support email (provided in Section 12: Contact Us). For
certain requests, we may need to verify your identity (for example, by confirming control of your email
account) to prevent unauthorized access to your data. We will respond to your request within a reasonable
timeframe, and in any event within any timeframe required by law (GDPR typically requires within one month
for most requests). If we cannot comply with your request, we will provide an explanation (for instance, if
you request deletion of data which we are required by law to keep, we will inform you of that obligation).
Additionally, if you believe our handling of your personal data violates any applicable law, you have the
right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory data protection authority. If you are in the European Union,
this would be the authority in your country of residence. We would, however, appreciate the chance to
address your concerns directly first, so we encourage you to contact us with any concerns.
9. Data Deletion and Account Termination
You have the option to delete your DLang account and all associated personal data at any time. We provide a
straightforward process to do so:
- In-App Deletion: You can initiate account deletion by using the account deletion feature available in
the App’s account settings. This feature will guide you through the process and ask for confirmation
before permanently erasing your data.
- Web Deletion Link: If you do not have access to the App or prefer to use a web interface, you may
request deletion via our dedicated data deletion page: DLang Data Deletion Portal. This portal will verify your identity (such
as by sending a confirmation email) and, once confirmed, will schedule your data for deletion. (If the
above link is not accessible, please contact support for assistance — see below.)
- Contacting Support: You may also request deletion by contacting us via email at mobile.binomv@gmail.com.
Please include the email associated with your account and a clear request to delete your data. For
security, we may ask you to perform certain steps or provide information to confirm the request.
Effect of Deletion: Once you confirm that you want to delete your account, we will deactivate your account
and begin the deletion process. Your profile information, email, and authentication tokens will be removed
from our user database. All of your personal content (word lists, progress data, etc.) will be expunged from
our systems as well. We aim to complete the deletion of your data promptly, typically within 30 days of
receiving a verified deletion request . This period allows us to ensure that we can fulfill any ongoing
services you might cancel and to accommodate our next scheduled secure data erasure cycle (including removal
from backups as described in Section 7).
After deletion, your data cannot be recovered. This means that if you change your mind later, we will not be
able to restore your account or any of your content – you would need to create a new account and start
fresh. We thus advise you to back up any data you wish to keep (e.g., export your word lists) before
initiating deletion.
In some cases, we may retain certain minimal information even after account deletion if required for legal
compliance or legitimate business purposes – for example, records of purchases (without personal
identifiers) for financial accounting, or logs indicating that a deletion occurred (to demonstrate
compliance). However, such information, if any, will not be used to identify you or for any active service
purposes, and will be kept only for the duration necessary to fulfill those obligations.
10. Children’s Privacy
DLang is rated 3+ on Google Play and 4+ on the Apple App Store, indicating that its content is suitable for
all ages, including children. We do not present any inappropriate content in the App, and we strive to make
the learning experience safe and enjoyable for users of all ages. However, protecting the privacy of young
users is especially important. In line with child privacy laws and platform requirements:
- No Personal Data from Children Under 13: We do not knowingly collect personal information from children
under the age of 13 (or under the applicable age of digital consent in your region, if different)
without verifiable parental consent. Our application is not designed to solicit personal details from
young children beyond what is reasonably necessary to use the app (for example, an email for account
creation, which in the case of a child should be done by a parent or guardian). If you are under 13,
please do not register an account or submit personal information to DLang without your parent or
guardian’s involvement.
- Parental Account Control: We recommend that parents or guardians create and manage accounts for minors
using DLang. Parents should supervise their child’s use of the App, especially when creating any
user-generated content like word lists, to ensure no personal details are being shared.
- Compliance with Family Policy: For users identified as underage, DLang adheres to the Google Play
Families Policy and similar guidelines. This means, for example, we disable any behavioral advertising
or personalized ads for such accounts and strictly limit data collection to what is necessary for the
app’s operation . Any third-party SDKs or services integrated into DLang that could affect child users
are reviewed for compliance with family-friendly standards .
- Educational Content: The AI-based content generation and voice features are designed to provide
age-appropriate language learning material. We do not allow user-generated chat or free-form
communication between minors and unknown parties through the App. The AI does not solicit personal
information from users.
- If We Learn of Child Data Collection: In the event we discover that we have inadvertently collected
personal information from a child under 13 without proper consent, we will take immediate steps to
delete that information from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child
under 13 has provided us personal information without your consent, please contact us at
mobile.binomv@gmail.com, and we will promptly investigate and address the issue.
By using DLang, you affirm that you are either (i) at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction
(typically 18 years or older), or (ii) if you are under the age of majority, that you are using the App with
the consent and supervision of your parent or legal guardian . If you are a parent or guardian, by allowing
your child to use DLang, you agree to this Privacy Policy on the child’s behalf and you consent to our
collection and use of the child’s information as described in this Policy.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update or revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices,
technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. If we make material changes, we will
notify you through appropriate channels – for example, by posting a notice within the App, updating the
“Last Updated” date at the bottom of this Policy, and/or emailing you (if you have provided an email) to
explain the changes.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your
information. The latest version of the Privacy Policy will always be available within the App (in the
settings or legal section) and on our website. Your continued use of DLang after any changes to this Privacy
Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with any updates or
modifications, you should stop using the App and may request deletion of your data as described above.
12. Contact Us
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal data, please
do not hesitate to contact us:
- Email: mobile.binomv@gmail.com
- Contact Person: Vladimir Ivanov
- Postal Address: Mehrower Allee 30, 12687 Berlin, Germany
We will do our best to respond promptly to your inquiries and resolve any concerns. Your privacy is important
